Do you need the driver for your computer's video card? Read on to see if it can be downloaded and installed automatically by Windows Update, or if you will have to download and install it manually.
Computers contain a video card for video display and other functions, such as data capture and recording. If you want to play movies on your computer, you need a working video card.
The Video card's own driver must be installed first.
To install the video card's driver, follow these steps:
1. Download and install a compatible driver, according to the requirements of your system, from the website of the manufacturer of your video card.
2. Download and install the downloaded driver using your computer's control panel.
3. Your computer will start to automatically install the video card driver.
4. Choose if you want to restart the computer now, or you can restart later.
5. When the computer has restarted, it will connect to the Internet, start up the Windows Update service, and update your video card's driver.
6. The Windows Update service will finish installing the driver, close the Control Panel and log off.
7. When the computer starts up again, you will be prompted to restart it.
If the video card driver is not installed, or if Windows Update cannot install it, follow these steps:
1. Download and install a compatible driver, according to the requirements of your system, from the website of the manufacturer of your video card.
2. Download and install the downloaded driver using your computer's control panel.
3. Your computer will start to automatically install the video card driver.
4. Choose if you want to restart the computer now, or you can restart later.
